DOG & HYDRANT                                            Updated May 25, 2020

Modified Safety and Hygiene Protocols

Dog & Hydrant is implementing modified safety and hygiene protocols to ensure that we are in compliance with the re-opening requirements put forth in Amendment No. 2 to Order of the Health Officer of the County of Sonoma No. C19-09. We are striving to keep our clients and employees safe and healthy by minimizing exposure to the COVID-19 virus while present at our facility. D&H’s stringent new measures follow the social distancing and sanitation guidelines detailed by the CDC, and also comply with local and state orders and guidance.

Service By Appointment Only

To help maintain appropriate social distancing, and to stagger arrival times, we will not be able to accommodate requests for walk-in services.

Face Coverings Required for Entry

We ask that you continue to come inside our lobby* for pick-up and drop-off of your pet, as it is very likely the groomer will need to review the appointment details with you before we can begin your dog’s service. Face coverings are required in all public spaces in Sonoma County, including at Dog & Hydrant. Should anyone enter without a face covering, they will be offered a complimentary paper face mask. Anyone declining to wear a face covering will be asked to leave. You will find all of our staff members to also be wearing face coverings.

[*for seniors and at-risk individuals, curbside pickup &/or drop off can be accommodated by special advance request. Please make your request a minimum of one hour prior to your scheduled appointment, so that staffing can be arranged to accommodate.]

Modified Pet Hand-Off

Whenever feasible, we will have you remove your pet’s collar and leash, and ask you to place a clean D&H slip lead on them. Please then hand the end of the slip lead to a staff member with as minimal contact as possible. Kindly remember to bring your dog’s collar and leash back with you when returning for pick-up. We will bring your dog out to you on a slip lead, and ask you to collar/leash/harness your pup in the lobby before departure.

Proper Social Distancing

You will find floor decals around our boutique to help keep six feet of distance between people at all possible times, including while waiting in line. Our groomers and staff members have also been asked to maintain a distance of at least six feet between themselves and any other person, including fellow staff members. Employees have also been instructed to not shake hands or engage in any unnecessary physical contact while working at D&H.

Increased Sanitation Practices

Dog & Hydrant has designated a staff member each day to disinfect common surfaces hourly, and we are performing additional cleaning measures between each grooming service and again at the end of each day. All staff has been instructed to wash or sanitize their hands after each encounter with a customer or fellow crew member, and to repeat at regular intervals throughout the day.

Reconfigured Salon & Bathing Room

We have removed one grooming table from our salon, and have rearranged the remaining tables to be consistent with our social distancing requirements. Additionally, we have relocated one of our tubs from our main bathing room and installed it in a private room on the opposite side of our newly expanded facility. This change allows our bathing staff more room to spread out and practice their social distancing, while still getting your dogs bathed and dried efficiently.

Feeling Unwell? Stay Home

D&H is urging our clients to stay at home if you’re feeling under the weather or have had a known exposure to COVID-19. Our employees are also encouraged to stay home from work if they feel at all unwell, and we have provided our staff with the tools to self-monitor via temperature checks. We will also continue to support any team member who feels sick or does not feel comfortable coming to work.

Questions, feedback or suggestions to the above Safety and Hygiene Protocols are welcome,

and can be submitted to afox@dogandhydrant.com
